This month our Sleeping Beauty is a local lass who specialises in the two sexy, fashionable areas of corset making/design and mortgage advising!

Lady Vermillion is 23, loves art, drinks copious amounts of red bull and hates the fact that she has to sleep. She indulges in too much caffeine, wine, beautiful fabrics, and other small luxuries in life!

We had a chin wag with the long legged seamstress (steady on!) and here’s the gossip...

(SWM) Welcome to Sleepwalkers! So, tell us what you've been up to...

(LV) I’ve been a busy lady! I Work full time as a mortgage adviser as well as designing and making corsets. I’m in the process of designing and making a whole new collection of corsets so that I can launch my website, so most of my spare time is taken up with that.

I have also been painting a lot as of late as well, in what little spare time I have. I studied fine art at HND level so it’s great to direct my attention to other creative areas and be able to express my ideas on canvas as well.

(SWM) How would you describe yourself to a blind guy?

(LV) I’m 5”9, long hair, flawless skin, blue eyes, long lashes, 32G bust, 25” waist, tight pert backside, long toned legs, and at the weekend I like to be called Peter Luv! Yes, I’m evil and would just take full advantage of the fact the guy was blind, did I tell you I had a sadistic streak?

(SWM) You wouldn’t be welcome here if you didn’t! Tell us more about your corset making...

(LV) I have been designing and making corsets for the last 4 years. I have always had a passion for fashion (so to speak), and have always aspired to become a fashion designer. My interests in corsets began when I was studying art at college.

I specialised in 3 Dimensional design on my BTEC course and based my end of year exhibition piece up on the history of the corset. I made two metal corsets, I never would have envisaged that I would end up being a corset designer!

I decided one day that I was going to have a go at making a corset, so purchased a corset pattern and corset kit from off the internet. Up until that point I only had basic sewing skills, but after reading a few books and the pattern instructions I gave it my best shot. I’m a big believer in the fact that if you doing try to accomplish something then you will never ever know.

(SWM) That’s definitely a good attitude. Are there any alternative or mainstream icons that have inspired what you are doing?

(LV) There are no ‘icons’ in particular that I gain inspiration from, I am simply inspired by the world around me. This can be anything from nature to music and most importantly history, especially the renaissance and Victorian periods.

In fact, music has a MASSIVE impact on my creative output. I always have a stack of CD’s in my sewing room, the music that I listen too is very diverse. I have always been a very visual person, I was the child who sat in the classroom staring out of the window daydreaming, from primary school to high school I was renowned for that.

(SWM) What’s the tipple of choice for a young woman of taste like yourself?

(LV) I’m an avid wine drinker. In fact I’m currently working my way up to the title of ‘wine connoisseur’. There’s nothing better than a chilled bottle of white wine and a jar of garlic stuffed green olives, oh! And I like my red white slightly chilled too... remember that when you next see me standing at the bar with an empty glass!

(SWM) I’m afraid the SWM budget doesn’t stretch to drinks that we don’t brew ourselves in the bath. Speaking of baths, what would your radio ‘handle’ be if you were a trucker?

Fruit loop! – As it just makes me chuckle.

Thanks for coming and making us giggle like schoolboys, Lady Vermillion! Her corsetry website is coming soon so keep your peepers open for her.
